Flute Spirits & the Four Seasons

The flute: the oldest instrument known to man! In this fascinating concert Jane Rutter plays up to 12 different flutes of Gold, Silver, and Bamboo, including Classical, World Flutes & Whistles, often with guest didgeridoo player. Works include Vivaldi, The Four Seasons, Indian Ragas, Irish melodies, and flute pieces which mystically connect the Australian Dreamtime, Western & Eastern Classical music and the universal appeal of the flute. Flute Spirits evokes flute spirits from around the world with works by Vivaldi, Debussy, Devienne, Vaughan- Williams, Irving Berlin, Ross Edwards, Sarah Hopkins, Jane Rutter and traditional Celtic pieces. Linking prose by Rumi, Patrick White, Anaïs Nin.

 Jane Rutter French Flute

After her sell-out concert at the Sydney Opera House, legendary Australian Flautist Jane Rutter performs an exclusive concert of French Classical and Popular repertoire on five different solo flutes.The concert includes French Gregorian Chant and works by Debussy, Devienne, Marais, Satie, Poulenc, Piaf, Aznavour & philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s solo arrangement of Vivaldi: Spring played on a handmade 1887 Louis Lot flute (the flute equivalent of a Stradivarius). Virtuoso accordionist and jazz pianist, Marcello Maio, accompanies Jane in a selection of popular French Tangos &  Chansons. In 2016 Jane was awarded the prestigious French medal Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres. ('Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters' is a French award of recognition for significant contributions to Arts & Literature.) The concert is a celebration of  this milestone in her life. Jane Rutter is an expert in the French Flute School, which leads the world in sound, technique and elegance of expression on the instrument.

La Rêvolution: La Musique des Rêves 

Artistic Director and flutist Jane Rutter is joined by opera stars Helpmann Award-winning Taryn Fiebig (soprano and cellist) and Andrew Jones (baritone) to celebrate La France in La Rêvolution. Accompanied by a small Parisian-style ensemble performing French classical arias, chansons, French tangos and delicious salon pieces, La Rêvolution transports audiences in a seductive musical program including the enduring classics: La Vie en Rose (Edith Piaf), Canteloube’s Chants D'auvergne (chamber arrangement for soprano, classical & world flutes, cello & piano), Belle Nuit & Le Cancan (Offenbach), C’est Magnifique (Cole Porter), the sumptuous Flower Duet from Lakmé (Delibes), the haunting Pavane by Fauré and the Torreador Song from Carmen. Virtuoso accordionist Marcello Maio adds  a bohemian touch to the evening. Jane Rutter has an intimate relationship with France and French and as Artistic Director of La Rêvolution she seeks  to convey the deep love affair France has with vocal and vocally-inspired music celebrating all that we love about French music: elegance, sensuality and passion!
