Along with brilliant musical colleagues flutist Jane Rutter appears in an important documentary film about Maestro Tommy Tycho\, her mentor for a number of years. \n \n  \nOn Thursday 23 October\, one day before the release of Jane Rutter’s 25th Album AMORE: Timeless Italian Flute & Guitar\, Jane joins in a panel discussion about Tommy Tycho’s incredible musical contribution to Australia and the world. It was Tommy Tycho who advised Jane Rutter to perform her iconic version of Ravel’s Bolero playing 3 different flutes whilst dancing. Jane Rutter created a sensation with her performance of Le Boléro de Ravel\, which became a signature ‘classical flute single’ for her. \n  \nFrom the late 1950s to the early 2000s\, Tycho\, a Holocaust survivor from Budapest\, was the preeminent musical director in Australia and one of the most accomplished musicians in the country. He was one of the earliest faces seen on Australian television as Channel 7’s first musical director in 1956. He composed over 3000 musical compositions and arrangements throughout his life and toured as a musical director and accompanist for artists like Frank Sinatra\, Roy Orbison\, Sammy Davis Jr and many more. \nThrough archival materials and interviews with an array of famous faces from Australia’s music industry\, including Jane Rutter\, Julie Anthony\, Barry Crocker\, Simon Tedeschi\, Jackie Love \, James Morrison\, Todd McKenney and Rhonda Burchmore\, this documentary celebrates the indelible mark Tycho left on our country’s cultural landscape.

DESCRIPTION:Renowned flautist Jane Rutter will perform in The Lest We Forget Sunset Tribute — a moving ANZAC Eve commemoration in the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Wednesday\, 24 April 2026. \nThis special concert\, presented by Lest We Forget Australia\, gathers more than 150 of Australia’s leading military\, veteran\, and civilian artists to honour and remember those who served. \nJane will perform the deeply emotional “Gabriel’s Oboe”\, a single from her album Amore\, joined by acclaimed guitarist Giuseppe Zangari. \nJoining Jane on the evening will be celebrated artists James Morrison\, Bryan Brown\, Sam Neill\, and Little Pattie. \nLast year\, Jane released solo flute album Meditations on Australia\, including a haunting flute and didgeridoo rendition of The Last Post. She recently also released a powerful Dance version of The Last Post—created to contextualise and engage younger audiences in remembrance of Anzac Day. \nFor Jane\, the performance holds deep personal meaning.
