Flute rehearsals; Flute Concerts, Flute Blogging!
The last few months have been quite hectic for me. I don’t know if any of you flute players / musicians have the same issue, but I always seem to gravitate to a quick Instagram post or a quick Facebook post, rather than spending time on my flute blog.
My SEO advisor tells me that it’s more sensible to focus on the blog page of one’s website… does anyone have this issue-do we easily get around to it-especially if we are not first and foremost writers? How much is expected of us? We perform, rehearse, arrange, curate, create, promote, teach, social network, normal network, run lives etc etc… As a soloist and also Artistic Director of Live at Lunch at The Concourse, Chatswood( One of the best concert venues in Australia), I have the sensation of constantly crashing into the next week. Anyway, here I am months since the last blog, putting my flute life out there!
All I really want to do is play flute, perform, write flute music (and other music) paint, swim, be creative, help others & work on environmental issues… I spend my life creating content…. Sharing that content is another thing!
Recently Ive been preoccupied with:

-Organising & curating Live at Lunch @TheConcourse Chatswood series for 2020 (Tix on sale soon), here are some testimonials from 2019:

My general flute practice (which takes at least 2 hours per day), rehearsals (a few each week),
-Working on the Third Culture World Music Facebook/Instagram Page:

…and last but not least looking after Mum!
Today, (after bumping into pal singer Tina Arena at my local cafe), I rushed to a flute rehearsal for the Evening Stars tour with West End Musical Star/Director/Actor/ Incredible Singer Peter Cousens. The rehearsal process, although terribly serious on one level, is also SO much fun. The camaraderie that exists between we musicians – in which the music is the medium rather than the spoken word – allows for a special brand of humour, madness and intimacy. It’s very rare that a flute rehearsal is not filled with moment of laughter and joy! It is ‘paid passage’ to a joyful performance (thanks to hero Joan Didion for that last ‘paid passage’ idea).
Next blog I’ll talk about the Evening Stars Tour. Love to all! Talk SOON I hope!
Really enjoyed your lunchtime concert today so many many thanks . Hope to see you in Canberra again one day!
