LEST WE FORGET HARBOUR SUNSET TRIBUTE
Renowned flautist Jane Rutter will perform in The Lest We Forget Sunset Tribute — a moving ANZAC Eve commemoration in the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Wednesday, 24 April 2026.
This special concert, presented by Lest We Forget Australia, gathers more than 150 of Australia’s leading military, veteran, and civilian artists to honour and remember those who served.
Jane will perform the deeply emotional “Gabriel’s Oboe”, a single from her album Amore, joined by acclaimed guitarist Giuseppe Zangari.
Joining Jane on the evening will be celebrated artists James Morrison, Bryan Brown, Sam Neill, and Little Pattie.
Last year, Jane released solo flute album Meditations on Australia, including a haunting flute and didgeridoo rendition of The Last Post. She recently also released a powerful Dance version of The Last Post—created to contextualise and engage younger audiences in remembrance of Anzac Day.
For Jane, the performance holds deep personal meaning. Her grandfather, Lieutenant Commander John Noble Shipton, served heroically with the Light Horse Brigade at Gallipoli and was decorated in both World Wars, receiving the Lloyd’s Medal for Bravery for his valiant service.
The Lest We Forget Sunset Tribute is a special commemoration featuring more than 150 of Australia’s best military, veteran and civilian artists – all coming together to honour the fallen.
Marking “the going down of the sun” on the Eve of Anzac Day, The Sunset Tribute includes Veterans Tributes for some of Australia’s oldest veterans, inspiring stories of younger Veterans and special tributes for Veterans Families.
The Sunset Tribute also includes the National Anthems, Acknowledgement of Country, a Procession of Drums, the Legacy Torch of Remembrance as well as The Ode, Last Post and A Minutes Silence.
All tickets are FREE but you are invited to make a donation to the RSL Anzac Appeal supporting veterans and their families. TO DONATE visit www.lestweforget.org.au
“It is my great honour to perform at this profound event, marking the going down of the sun on the Eve of ANZAC Day,” says Jane. “Wearing my grandfather’s medals and my French knighthood Chevalier des Arts et Lettres, I dedicate this tribute to all those who have served and their families.”
